What is a doula?
A doula is a person who assists a woman during childbirth. Doulas provide physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and/or after the birth.
Why are doulas important?
A doula's efforts can help to make labors shorter and less complicated. Babies often benefit by being healthier, and breastfeeding is easier due to the extra support that doulas bring. Likewise, the transition into parenthood is eased by the presence and support of a doula.
